Encouraging news on municipal culture funding: Ottawa’s Arts Investment Strategy report (detailed recently on the Guerilla blog) was carried at City Council this morning! The final step, however, is the 2007 budget process, which features two elements:
• Councillor-led budget consultations between February 10th and 16th.
• Then, from February 19th to the 21st, Committee of the Whole (all city councillors) will receive public delegations on the 2007 budget. Any member of the public can address Committee of the Whole (five minutes maximum) at this time. If all goes well, City Council will include the plan in the final 2007 City budget, approved sometime between February 26th and 28th.
